Manorathangal, the highly anticipated MT Vasudevan anthology series, is gearing up to premiere on Zee5, on August 15, 2024. The series consists of nine segments, based on popular short stories penned by the Jnanpith Award winner. As reported earlier, Mohanlal is headlining Olavum Theeravum, one of the most anticipated segments in the anthology, directed by Priyadarshan. The netizens are now going gaga over Mohanlal’s risky shots from the Manorathangal glimpses, which the superstar shot without a dupe.
Manorathangal: Mohanlal performs risky action without a dupe
The Manorathangal trailer and the Olavum Theeravum segment teaser revealed that Mohanlal has performed some risky action scenes in the Priyadarshan directorial. In the stills from the glimpses, the legendary superstar is seen performing action scenes in a ‘Changadam’ ( a flat-bottom boat that carries heavy loads), without a dupe. As per the reports, Mohanlal refused to use body doubles for any of the risky shots in the segment, as always. The netizens are now showering praises on the superstar for his unmatched efforts and dedication to his craft.
Mohanlal and Priyadarshan’s Olavum Theeravum
Olavum Theeravum, the famous short story of MT Vasudevan Nair, was previously adapted into a feature film in 1970. As the story is getting remade as a segment in Manorathangal, Mohanlal is appearing as Baputty, the central character that was played by legendary actor Madhu in the original. Durga Krishna is appearing in the role of Nabeesa, the lady love of Baputty. This role was originally played by senior actress Usha Nandini in the original film, directed by veteran filmmaker PN Menon.
As per the recent updates, Priyadarshan’s Olavum Theeravum has a duration of over 50 minutes and is touted to be the longest segment in the Manorathangal anthology series. Along with Mohanlal and Durga Krishna, the series features Hareesh Peradi, Surabhi Lakshmi, and others in supporting roles. Santhosh Sivan, the veteran cinematographer is the director of photography. Bijibal composed the music. MS Aiyappan Nair has handled the editing of the segment.
